Turfs Up at the Maritime and Coastguard Agency’s new Daedalus Training Centre
Mitie Landscapes recently completed a project for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) at their new Daedalus Training Centre in Lee on Solent. The MCA approached Mitie and asked if we could help prepare the grounds at the recently completed site. The area had been used during construction and had become an unsightly muddy area. The MCA needed the whole area re-turfing to make it presentable for the buildings grand opening.
Mitie Landscapes was happy to help and the team did a fantastic job. Despite the tight timescales they still managed to have the site ready for the big day. In total they used around 100 tons of top soil and laid over 1,000 m2 of turf.
The team worked closely with Daedalus HM Coastguard management, offering advice and making sure the client’s requests were met. Head of HM Coastguard Technical Training, Tim Sullivan said “I was very impressed by the excellent work conducted by Rick and his team. This was a very short notice request and the team brought all hands to bear to contribute to a very successful official opening of Daedalus Training Centre. It was a pleasure working with this committed and professional team’’.
The local Mayor and MCA senior management were in attendance for the opening event but the guests of honour were a very special family who have raised a large amount of money to the Coastguard over many years. The MCA were keen to make sure everything was perfect for them and Mitie Landscapes is delighted to have helped them do this.
Congratulations to the team; Rick Towner, Lee Marsh, Mike Stansfield, Mike Gostage, Brian Lawrence and Phil Polhill, on a job well done.
