Maritime and Coastguard Agency turfing completed

Back in May we brought you the news of a turfing job we completed for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA). At the time the MCA asked Mitie Landscapes to help prepare the grounds at their newly completed Daedalus Training Centre in Lee on Solent.

The client was delighted with the landscaping work we did and recently they asked if we could do some more turfing to finish of the site. The team worked hard over a number of weeks to make sure this phase of the job was completed to the same high standards as the first. The training centre is an important focal point for the MCA and the quality of the grounds need to match this.

The team started by spraying the top layer of grass which was full of weed and ready to be removed. Once this was done they set about the next stage, removing the grass using a 360 degree digger and a dump truck. Once the area had been cleared it needed to be made good ready for the new turf to be laid. It took four very large lorry loads of good quality top soil to do this. From here the real back breaking work began as the team had to lay 1,200m2 of turf.

As you can see from the before and after photos the team did a fantastic job. The client thought so to saying “the new lawn looks beautiful!”.
